Box Car Peggers

The Box Car Peggers, Roseville, California, was organized in the late spring of 2009 following discussions among several local cribbage players, including Gordon Brown, William McColgin, Jack and Elouise Stowe, and Jack Throne. Their goal was to give Roseville-areas players a local club at which to play

Following a great deal of organization and planning, the club began playing on June 1, 2009, to determine if there was sufficient interest to sustain the club's operation. The first night of play saw a mixture of players from other clubs in the region and players new to tournament cribbage. After a few weeks of play, the interest was sustained and several players from other clubs agreed to transfer their membership to this new club if it was chartered. Application was made to the American Cribbage Congress (ACC) for an official charter as a Grass Roots club, to begin play with the 2009-2010 season.

The ACC granted an ACC Grass Roots club charter to the Box Car Peggers as Club 371 in August, 2009 and the club began playing official tournaments on September 7th for the 2000-2010 season.

In December, 2011, Box Car Peggers was saddened by the sudden and unexpected passing of our founder and current President, Gordon Brown. To ensure continuity, the members quickly elected Michael Turpin as our new president, reviewed the schedule  and resumed play. We are grateful for the assistance offered and given by numerous individuals from other local clubs during this difficult time.
